Senior Housing Locations

Popular Senior Housing Locations

With the great number of senior housing options in the United States, it is easy for one to become confused or overwhelmed. In order to find the right place, you must look at housing price based on location, and what your community has to offer in terms of convenience. Senior living cost has increased by roughly 4% since 2012, so therefore it is crucial to consider the cheaper, and more popular senior housing locations in the local area, but also those that best fit the needs of the residents and is in a stress-free and safe location. Some of the best senior housing locations are located in California.

More specifically, in Fremont, California, where the median household income is roughly $98,138, and the median rent is around $2,500. In addition to a drastically low crime rate, Fremont communities offer a variety of activities such as golfing, camping, bicycle riding, and rock climbing. The weather in Fremont stays in a constant range from the mid 50s, to about the 70s. Another great senior living location is on the east coast. Manchester, New Hampshire has a crime rate of a little over the average, and communities in this area enjoy not only over 40 local parks, but also activities such as cruises and golfing courses.

Although the cost of living is a little greater than 17%, and with a two bedroom residence average of $1,260, it is nonetheless safe and senior citizen facilities are easily accessed throughout the community. Many great communities also reside in Arizona, specifically Henderson, Nevada.

Henderson's median rent for a two bedroom residence stands at around $1,167. The crime rate in this area is average, and the weather fluctuates from relatively cold towards the nighttime, and hot during the day, but there are lakes, fishing activities, water skiing, and hiking trails to enjoy in the area. In addition, the median rent is around $1,160, which is fairly low for the area. Back in California, Irvine is an exceptional option for seniors to live in. Irvine is one of the safest and cleanest cities in the United States, so it therefore has an extremely low crime rate.

Two bedroom residences are typically around $2,400. A bit expensive, but this city has a lot more to give, including multiple senior centers, numerous hiking trails and boating locations, and not to mention beaches that are a couple minutes drive away. Stores in Irvine are very easily accessible, depending on where one resides, so it is therefore very convenient and can save residents a lot of money on gas every year. Finally, many areas in the state of Florida are practical to move to.

It would make financial sense to move here, due to the lack of state income tax, and the lack of Social Security and inheritance tax. Some homestead exemptions can also reach a high of $50,000. The climate is also a big factor in considering lLorida as an option. Older aged individuals tend to dislike colder climates, so it may be beneficial to permanently move to an area where the climate stays relatively constant.
